Ordering HelpIf you are having trouble placing an order, see the text below first. How do I order titles?First, you need to find the first title you want to order. To help you find the title, click on the "Browse" or "Search" tabs along the top left edge of most pages. When you find the first title you want to order, fill in the quantity you would like to order in the text box after the "Order Quantity" label. Then, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and press the button labeled "Add Items to Shopping List." If a dialog box appears asking for your permission to receive a cookie, choose "OK." (This part will be explained below.) This will take you to a screen titled "Display of Shopping List" which will list all of the titles you have selected, their ISBN numbers, their individual prices, the quantities you selected, and subtotals for each line. A total price will appear at the bottom of the list. If you want to change or delete any items from the list, edit the number that appears in the "Quantity" box for that line. To delete a line, highlight and delete the number in the "Quantity" box. Then press the "Make Changes to Shopping List" at the bottom of the screen. To add an item to the list, find another title you are looking for, and, as before, enter a quantity and press the "Add Items to Shopping List" button. If the quantity of items you want to order is displayed correctly, you can order by pressing the "Place Order" button. This takes you to a screen called "Place Order." Use this screen to enter contact and order information, including credit card information and shipping and/or billing address information. When you have completed all information that applies to you, press the "Send Order" button. You will see a confirmation screen which summarizes your order. Press the "Return to Main Menu" link to return to the site's main menu. What happens when I order titles?Whenever you press the "Add Items to Shopping List" button, the page is scanned for titles whose "Quantity" boxes are filled in. Then, information about those titles are written to a "cookie", which is a tiny text file that stays on your computer's disk for a short time. (Why is it called a cookie? No reason, really ... ask Netscape.) Your browser must be set to accept cookies. You may be able to tell your browser to warn you before accepting cookies; if this is the case, you will see a dialog box appear every time information is written to the cookie. If your browser is set to reject all cookies, or if it cannot accept cookies, you will not be able to place an order with this system. If you can't find any cookie-setting options for your browser, you can download newer versions of popular web browsers from Netscape and Microsoft. Why are cookies used at all? For this ordering system, cookies are used as a way to store persistent information. Without using cookies, you would have to completely fill out and place a separate order for each title. Cookies allow you to build a list of titles and order them all at once. When you place your order, the order information is put into an email message which is sent directly to Libros Sin Fronteras. A few words about security: When you order, no transactions are made with any banks or other financial institutions. The information in your order stays within its email message, making the process no less secure than giving credit card and other information over the telephone. Also, since cookies are only text files and are not executable, they cannot contain viruses. Cookies will also not gather on your disk; they are set to expire at a past date and should dispose of themselves when you quit your browser software.
